Pope Francis on Thursday, June 30, appointed Father Alain Clément Amiézi, bishop of the diocese of Odienné in northwestern Côte d’Ivoire. Mgr Alain Clément Amiezi was born on September 28, 1970 in Dimbokro in the diocese of

Bondoukou. In 1991, he joined the Society of African Missions (SMA) in Ebimpé, where he took courses in philosophy and, at the end of the two-year period, continued his theological studies at the Major Seminary of the Sacred Heart of Marie in Anyama.

Ordained a priest on May 1, 1999, he was curate of the Cathedral of Saint Odile and responsible for the vocation ministry and the media of the diocese from 1999 to 2004. He then went to study dogmatic theology at the Pontifical Urbaniana University of Rome from 2004-2008 where he obtained his doctorate.

Resident professor of dogmatic theology at the Major Seminary of Anyama, guest lecturer at the Catholic University of Paris and at the Catholic University of West Africa (Ucao-Uua), Father Amiézi was also a teacher at the Institute of Theology of the Society of Jesus, and at the Catholic Missionary Institute of Abidjan from 2009 to 2021.

Returning to his diocese for the 2020-2021 pastoral year to be the parish priest of the cathedral, Father Alain Clément Amiézi has also been, since 2011, executive secretary of the Commission for the Doctrine of the Faith of the Ivorian Episcopal Conference.

Dom Alain Clément Amiezi nasceu em 28 de setembro de 1970 em Dimbokro na diocese de

Bondoukou. Em 1991, ingressou na Sociedade das Missões Africanas (SMA) em Ebimpé, onde fez cursos de filosofia e, ao final do biênio, continuou seus estudos teológicos no Seminário Maior do Sagrado Coração de Maria, em Anyama. .

Ordenado sacerdote em 1º de maio de 1999, foi pároco da Catedral de Santa Odile e responsável pela pastoral vocacional e pela mídia da diocese de 1999 a 2004. Em seguida, foi estudar teologia dogmática na Pontifícia Universidade Urbaniana de Roma, de 2004-2008 onde obteve seu doutorado.

Mgr Alain Clément Amiezi est né le 28 septembre 1970 à Dimbokro dans le diocèse de

Bondoukou. En 1991, il rejoint la Société des Missions Africaines (SMA) à Ebimpé, où il a suivi des cours de philosophie et, à la fin de la période de deux ans, a poursuivi ses études de théologie au Grand séminaire du Sacré-Cœur de Marie à Anyama.

Ordonné prêtre le 1er mai 1999, il a été viciare de la cathédrale sainte Odile et responsable de la pastorale des vocations et des médias du diocèse de 1999 à 2004. Il est par la suite allé étudier la Théologie dogmatique à l’Université pontificale Urbanienne de Rome de 2004-2008 où il a obtenu son doctorat.

Professeur résident de Théologie dogmatique au Grand Séminaire d’Anyama, conférencier invité à l’Université Catholique de Paris et à l’Université catholique de l’Afrique de l’Ouest (Ucao-Uua), le père Amiézi étaient également enseignant à l’Institut de théologie de la Compagnie de Jésus, et à l’Institut catholique missionnaire d’Abidjan de 2009 à 2021.

Retourné dans son diocèse l’année pastorale 2020-2021 pour être le curé de la cathédrale, le père Alain Clément Amiézi est également, depuis 2011, secrétaire exécutif de la Commission de la doctrine de la foi de la Conférence épiscopale ivoirienne.
