Il a ajouté que le film avait laissé le public inspiré parce qu’il montrait que “même si le mal essaie d’extirper la manifestation du Christ, dans son Église, par le saint sacrement de la messe, que comme l’a dit le Seigneur, ‘Pierre, tu es le roc et, sur ce roc, je bâtirai mon Église et les portes des enfers ne pourront lui résister.

“Et c’est ce qui s’est passé en Irlande et c’est pourquoi je suppose qu’il y avait tant de gens qui sont venus vers nous, en particulier de ces pays, et ont exprimé ces sentiments très positifs.”

Un mois avant la projection du film à Rome, Gallagher a envoyé au Saint-Père une lettre dans laquelle il demandait une bénédiction sur le film. Sa lettre expliquait la pertinence du film aujourd’hui, en ce que même s’il se déroule à l’époque pénale, les chrétiens du monde entier continuent d’être persécutés pour leur foi. La lettre indiquait également qu’une bénédiction papale aiderait le succès du film et la propagation de la foi dans le monde entier.

“Ce fut une occasion très bénie pour moi personnellement et pour toute la mission d’EWTN Irlande”, a-t-il déclaré.

“Le Saint-Esprit est ce dont nous avons besoin pour propager ce message de vérité, propager ce message d’engagement envers la foi catholique, en particulier en ces temps modernes, donc c’était une chose très forte pour nous et grâce à Dieu pour cela”, Gallagher conclu.

“And that’s what happened in Ireland and that’s why I suppose there were so many people who came to us, particularly from those countries, and voiced those very positive sentiments.”

One month before the film was to be shown in Rome, Gallagher sent the Holy Father a letter in which he asked for a blessing upon the film. His letter explained the relevance of the film today, in that even though it takes place during the penal times, Christians around the world continue to be persecuted for their faith. The letter also expressed that a papal blessing would help the film’s success and the propagation of the faith worldwide.

“It was a very blessed occasion for me personally, and for the whole mission of EWTN Ireland,” he expressed.

“The Holy Spirit is what we need to propagate this message of truth, propagate this message of commitment to the Catholic faith, particularly in these modern times, so that was a very strong thing for us and thanks be to God for it,” Gallagher concluded.
