Sendo bispo auxiliar de Chipata, no leste da Zâmbia desde 2011, o bispo Benjamin Phiri é, desde quinta-feira, 2 de julho, bispo titular de Ndola no centro.
AGÊNCIA DE NOTÍCIAS DA RECOWACERAO, RECONA foi informada com segurança que a diocese de Ndola estava vazia desde janeiro de 2018. Concluiu-se que o bispo Alick Banda, seu ex-bispo, foi de fato nomeado arcebispo de Lusaka, capital.
Nascido em junho de 1959 em Chipata, o bispo Phiri foi ordenado sacerdote na mesma diocese em setembro de 1986. É formado em direito canônico pela Pontifícia Universidade Urbana de Roma. Foi diretor nacional do gabinete pastoral da Conferência Episcopal da Zâmbia (Zccb) e diretor do ministério pastoral das vocações na diocese de Chipata.
Muito antes de sua nomeação, o padre Phiri trabalhou como secretário pessoal do ex-bispo de Chipata, cardeal Medardo Mazombwe.

RECOWACERAO NEWS AGENCY, RECONA was reliably informed that the diocese of Ndola had been vacant since January 2018. It was gathered that Bishop Alick Banda, his former bishop, was indeed appointed archbishop of Lusaka, the capital.
Born in June 1959 in Chipata, Bishop Phiri was ordained a priest in the same diocese in September 1986. He holds a degree in canon law from the Pontifical Urban University of Rome. He was the national director of the pastoral office of the Episcopal Conference of Zambia (Zccb) and director of the pastoral ministry of vocations in the diocese of Chipata.
Long before his appointment, Father Phiri worked as the personal secretary to the former bishop of Chipata, Cardinal Medardo Mazombwe.
