Les informations parvenues au bureau exécutif de RECOWACERAO NEWS AGENCY, RECONA, basée à Abidjan, la capitale de la Côte d’Ivoire, ont confirmé que Lagos, le centre névralgique commercial du Nigeria, est sur le point d’accueillir les évêques catholiques d’Afrique alors qu’ils se réunissent pour célébrer le 50e anniversaire du Comité épiscopal panafricain pour les communications sociales (CEPACS).
L’événement devrait se tenir entre le 18 et le 21 novembre 2023, selon le président du CEPACS, l’évêque Emmanuel Badejo, membre de première ligne du RECOWA-CERAO et l’évêque du diocèse d’Oyo, a affirmé que le rassemblement est considéré comme le le plus grand rassemblement d’évêques catholiques et de communicateurs en Afrique et au-delà ces dernières années.
Fondée en 1973 par le Symposium des conférences épiscopales d’Afrique et de Madagascar (SCEAM) pour l’Église en Afrique, la CEPACS a reçu pour mandat de promouvoir l’utilisation des moyens modernes de communication de masse comme outils d’évangélisation dans l’Église africaine.
Pour garantir une célébration du 50e anniversaire sans accroc, Mgr Emmanuel Badejo a récemment constitué un comité d’organisation local à Lagos, composé d’experts en communication avisés, prêtres et laïcs, ainsi que d’autres fonctionnaires de l’Église.
Il leur a confié la responsabilité de veiller à ce que les participants qui seront tirés au sort des huit régions d’Afrique vivent une expérience inoubliable lors de la célébration prévue du 18 au 21 novembre 2023.
Le comité est dirigé par le fondateur/président du réseau de télévision Lumen Christi, Sir Robert Soji Olagunji, tandis qu’un comptable agréé renommé, M. John I. Nejoh, en sera le secrétaire.
Le directeur des communications sociales de la Conférence des évêques catholiques du Nigeria, le P. Michael Umoh, et son homologue de Lagos, le Très Révérend Père. Anthony Godonu fait partie du Comité. Ils sont seuls chargés de veiller à ce que le comité s’acquitte de son mandat.

The event is billed to be held between November 18 to 21, 2023, according to the President of CEPACS, bishop Emmanuel Badejo who is a frontline member of RECOWA-CERAO and the Bishop of Oyo Diocese, asserted that the gathering is estimated to be the biggest assemblage of Catholic Bishops and Communicators in Africa and beyond in the recent years.

To ensure a hitch-free 50th celebration, Bishop Emmanuel Badejo recently constituted a Local Organizing Committee in Lagos, comprising astute Communications experts, both priests and laymen, and other Church functionaries.
He saddled them with the responsibility of ensuring that the participants who will be drawn from the eight regions of Africa enjoy an unforgettable experience during the celebration scheduled to be held between 18 to 21, November 2023.
The Committee is headed by the Founder/Chairman of Lumen Christi Television Network, Sir Robert Soji Olagunji while a renowned Chartered Accountant, Mr. John I. Nejoh is to serve as Secretary.
The Nigerian Catholic Bishops’ Conference Director of Social Communications, Fr. Michael Umoh, and his counterpart in Lagos, Very Rev Fr. Anthony Godonu are part of the Committee. They are singly charged to ensure that the committee delivers on its mandate.
Other members of the local Organizing Committee include Sir Tony Chiejina, Mr. Seyi Martins, Barrister Philomena Omorodion, Mr. Tony Agbugba, Mrs. Neta Nwosu, Mr. Philip Nwosu, Mrs. Anthonia Okonkwo, Dr. Mrs. Bisi Olagunju, Mrs. Henrietta Okonkwo and Mrs M.O.D. Ewumi, amongst others.
Already, the Catholic Archbishop of Lagos, Archbishop Alfred Adewale Martins is excited by the forthcoming celebration and has given his full support, including a promise to personally be on the ground to welcome the delegates from across Africa to Lagos, Nigeria.
