O cardeal Filoni se torna grão-mestre da ordem do Santo Sepulcro. O arcebispo de Manila o sucede à frente da Congregação para a Evangelização dos Povos.

O cardeal arcebispo de Manila, Luis Antonio Tagle, é o novo prefeito da Congregação para a Evangelização dos Povos. A nomeação do Papa Francisco foi anunciada hoje, domingo, 8 de dezembro. O atual prefeito, Fernando Filoni, assume o cargo de grão-mestre da Ordem do Santo Sepulcro no lugar do cardeal Edwin Frederick O’Brien, que renunciou em abril de 2019 e completou 80 anos.

Com a nomeação de Tagle, um cardeal asiático voltou à liderança da Propaganda Fide (o nome antigo do importante departamento de evangelização, que também é responsável pelas nomeações episcopais em terras missionárias), após os anos do cardeal indiano Ivan Dias (2006-2011). ) Luis Antonio Gokim Tagle, nascido em 21 de junho de 1957 em Manila, em uma família católica – pai de etnia tagalog e mãe de origem chinesa – foi ordenado sacerdote em 1982. Estudou nos Estados Unidos onde obteve seu doutorado em teologia com uma tese sobre a evolução da noção de colegialidade episcopal desde o Concílio Vaticano II. Ele passou sete anos em Roma para aprofundar seus estudos e em 1997 ingressou na Comissão Teológica Internacional.

Depois de ter sido pároco da catedral de Imus, aos 44 anos de idade, foi nomeado bispo dessa diocese por São João Paulo II em outubro de 2001. Dedicou-se em particular ao ministério da juventude e inaugurou o primeiro encontro de jovens asiáticos em Imus. . Em 13 de outubro de 2011, Bento XVI o nomeou Arcebispo Metropolitano de Manila e treze meses depois, em novembro de 2012, durante o último consistório do pontificado do Papa Ratzinger, ele recebeu o chapéu do cardeal. Além de liderar a diocese da metrópole das Filipinas, Tagle também é presidente da Caritas Internationalis. Com essa escolha, anunciada alguns dias antes do final de sua viagem à Tailândia e ao Japão, Francis mostra novamente uma grande atenção ao continente asiático. Com a designação de Tagle, que segue algumas semanas a do jesuíta espanhol Juan Antonio Guerrero Alves como prefeito da Secretaria de Economia, dois novos chefes de departamento serão instalados no início de 2020 na Cúria Romana.

O papa Francisco nomeou então o cardeal Fernando Filoni, 73 anos, prefeito de Propaganda Fide de 2011 até os dias atuais, que se torna prefeito emérito do mesmo Dicastério, o novo grão-mestre da Ordem Equestre do Santo Sepulcro. Filoni foi núncio apostólico no Iraque de 2001 a 2006 e viveu em Bagdá durante a guerra de 2003. Depois, durante um ano, ele foi o embaixador do papa nas Filipinas antes de ser chamado à Secretaria de Estado como substituto, cargo que ocupou até 2011. Sua experiência no Oriente Médio será valiosa na nova tarefa, pois a Ordem do Santo Sepulcro coopera particularmente com as comunidades cristãs do Oriente Médio e as apoia em muitos projetos.

Le cardinal Filoni devient grand maître de l’Ordre du Saint-Sépulcre. L’archevêque de Manille lui succède à la tête de la Congrégation pour l’évangélisation des peuples.

Le Cardinal Archevêque de Manille, Luis Antonio Tagle est le nouveau Préfet de la Congrégation pour l’Évangélisation des Peuples. La nomination du pape François a été annoncée aujourd’hui, dimanche 8 décembre. L’actuel préfet, Fernando Filoni, assume le poste de grand maître de l’Ordre du Saint-Sépulcre à la place du cardinal Edwin Frederick O’Brien, qui a démissionné en avril 2019 et a eu 80 ans.

Avec la nomination de Tagle, un cardinal asiatique est revenu à la direction de Propaganda Fide (l’ancien nom du département important de l’évangélisation, qui est également responsable des nominations épiscopales sur les terres de la mission), après les années du cardinal indien Ivan Dias (2006-2011 ). Luis Antonio Gokim Tagle, né le 21 juin 1957 à Manille dans une famille catholique – son père d’origine tagalog et sa mère d’origine chinoise – a été ordonné prêtre en 1982. Il a étudié aux États-Unis où il a obtenu son doctorat en théologie avec une thèse sur l’évolution de la notion de collégialité épiscopale depuis le Concile Vatican II. Après avoir été curé de la cathédrale d’Imus, à l’âge de 44 ans, il a été nommé évêque de ce diocèse par Saint Jean-Paul II en octobre 2001. Il s’est consacré en particulier à la pastorale des jeunes et a inauguré la première rencontre des jeunes Asiatiques à Imus. . Le 13 octobre 2011, Benoît XVI l’a nommé archevêque métropolitain de Manille et treize mois plus tard, en novembre 2012, lors du dernier consistoire du pontificat du pape Ratzinger, il a reçu le chapeau de cardinal. En plus de diriger le diocèse de la métropole philippine, Tagle est également président de Caritas Internationalis. Avec ce choix, annoncé quelques jours avant la fin de son voyage en Thaïlande et au Japon, Francis montre une nouvelle fois une grande attention au continent asiatique. Avec la désignation de Tagle, qui suit de quelques semaines celle du jésuite espagnol Juan Antonio Guerrero Alves comme préfet du Secrétariat à l’économie, deux nouveaux chefs de service seront installés début 2020 dans la Curie romaine.

Cardinal Tagle is the new Prefect of Propaganda Fide

Cardinal Filoni becomes Grand Master of the Order of the Holy Sepulchre. The Archbishop of Manila succeeds him at the head of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples.

The Cardinal Archbishop of Manila, Luis Antonio Tagle is the new Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples. The appointment of Pope Francis was announced today, Sunday 8 December. The current Prefect, Fernando Filoni, assumes the post of Grand Master of the Order of the Holy Sepulcher in place of Cardinal Edwin Frederick O’Brien, who resigned in April 2019 and turned 80.

With the nomination of Tagle an Asian cardinal returned to the leadership of Propaganda Fide (the ancient name of the important department for evangelization, which is also responsible for episcopal nominations in mission lands), after the years of Indian Cardinal Ivan Dias (2006-2011). He dedicated himself in particular to youth ministry and inaugurated the first meeting of young Asians in Imus. On 13 October 2011 Benedict XVI appointed him Metropolitan Archbishop of Manila and thirteen months later, in November 2012, during the last consistory of the pontificate of Pope Ratzinger, he received the cardinal’s hat. In addition to leading the diocese of the Philippine metropolis, Tagle is also president of Caritas Internationalis. With this choice, announced a few days before the end of his trip to Thailand and Japan, Francis once again shows great attention to the Asian continent.
