A nomeação de Mons. Touho, que atua como pároco da paróquia São Francisco-Xavier da diocese de Atakpamé, foi divulgado na quarta-feira, 26 de outubro, pela assessoria de imprensa da Santa Sé. A diocese católica togolesa está vaga desde novembro de 2019, quando o bispo Nicodème Anani Barrigah-Benissan, que estava à frente da diocese desde sua ordenação episcopal em março de 2008, foi transferido para a arquidiocese de Lomé.
Nascido em dezembro de 1963 na mesma Diocese, o Bispo eleito foi ordenado sacerdote em junho de 1992, depois de ter concluído seus estudos sacerdotais no Seminário Maior St. Gall em Ouidah, Benin, e no Seminário de Cremona, Itália. Monsenhor Touho é licenciado em Teologia Espiritual pela Universidade Pontifícia Salesiana de Roma.
Desde que foi ordenado Sacerdote, o membro do Clero da Diocese de Atakpamé ocupou vários cargos, incluindo Vigário Paroquial em Blitta (1993-1994); Pároco em Kpékplémé (1994-1995); e Secretário especial do Administrador Apostólico de Atakpamé (1995-1998). Também atuou como chefe do Centro de Espiritualidade em Agbandi (2000-2002); administrador (2002-2006) e pároco de Santo Agostinho em Agadji (2006-2017).
Desde 2017, o Bispo eleito atua como Pároco de São Francisco-Xavier em Badou e membro do Conselho Presbiteral. Uma vez ordenado bispo, Monsenhor Touho deve supervisionar a Diocese de Atakpamé, que tem uma população de 343.541 católicos, segundo estatísticas de 2020. A Diocese Católica de 13.900 quilômetros quadrados, erigida em setembro de 1964, faz parte da Província Eclesiástica de Lomé.

Selon notre correspondant, il s’agit d’une évolution bienvenue puisque la plupart des curés qui ont souffert au fil des ans pour le bien de l’Église se sentent négligés dans certaines nominations clés du Vatican. C’est donc comme une consolation et un réconfort que le pape François a nommé Mgr Moïse Touho comme évêque du diocèse catholique d’Atakpamé au Togo.
La nomination de Mons. Touho, qui a été curé de la paroisse Saint-François-Xavier du diocèse d’Atakpamé, a été rendu public le mercredi 26 octobre par le bureau de presse du Saint-Siège. Le diocèse catholique togolais est vacant depuis novembre 2019 lorsque Mgr Nicodème Anani Barrigah-Benissan qui était à la tête du diocèse depuis son ordination épiscopale en mars 2008 a été transféré à l’archidiocèse de Lomé.
Né en décembre 1963 dans le même diocèse, l’évêque élu a été ordonné prêtre en juin 1992 après avoir terminé ses études sacerdotales au grand séminaire de Saint-Gall à Ouidah, au Bénin, et au séminaire de Crémone, en Italie. Monseigneur Touho est licencié en théologie spirituelle de l’Université pontificale salésienne de Rome.
Depuis qu’il a été ordonné prêtre, le membre du clergé du diocèse d’Atakpamé a occupé divers postes, dont celui de vicaire de la paroisse de Blitta (1993-1994) ; Curé de Kpékplémé (1994-1995) ; et secrétaire spécial de l’administrateur apostolique d’Atakpamé (1995-1998). Il a également dirigé le Centre de spiritualité d’Agbandi (2000-2002) ; administrateur (2002-2006) et curé de la paroisse Saint Augustin à Agadji (2006-2017).
Depuis 2017, l’évêque élu est curé de la paroisse Saint-François-Xavier à Badou et membre du conseil presbytéral. Une fois ordonné évêque, Mgr Touho devrait superviser le diocèse d’Atakpamé qui compte une population de 343 541 catholiques, selon les statistiques de 2020. Le diocèse catholique de 13 900 kilomètres carrés érigé en septembre 1964 fait partie de la province ecclésiastique de Lomé.

According to our Correspondent, this is a welcome development since most of the parish priests who have suffered over the years for the good of the church feel neglected in some key Vatican appointments. It has therefore come as a consolation and reassurance that Pope Francis has appointed Monsignor Moïse Touho as the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Atakpamé in Togo.
The appointment of Mons. Touho who has been serving as Parish Priest of St. François-Xavier Parish of Atakpamé Diocese was made public on Wednesday, October 26 by the Holy See Press office. The Togolese Catholic Diocese has been vacant since November 2019 when Bishop Nicodème Anani Barrigah-Benissan who had been at the helm of the Diocese since his Episcopal Ordination in March 2008 was transferred to the Archdiocese of Lomé.
Born in December 1963 in the same Diocese, the Bishop-elect has ordained a Priest in June 1992 after he had completed his Priestly studies at St. Gall’s Major Seminary in Ouidah, Benin, and the Seminary of Cremona, Italy. Monsignor Touho holds a licentiate in Spiritual Theology from the Salesian Pontifical University in Rome.
Since he was ordained a Priest, the member of the Clergy of Atakpamé Diocese served in various positions, including Parish Vicar in Blitta (1993-1994); Parish Priest in Kpékplémé (1994-1995); and special Secretary to the Apostolic Administrator of Atakpamé (1995-1998). He also served as head of the Spirituality Center in Agbandi (2000-2002); administrator (2002-2006) and Parish Priest of Saint Augustin in Agadji (2006-2017).
